The Story

This story is based on a true story that happened during the time of settlers in Washington.   Many men had come to settle but few women. It was decided that a Mr. Asa Mercer would travel to the East in 1864 and return with some young single women to work as teachers and other respectable vocations and marry the men.  He returned with more women on a later trip in 1866.  This was later made into a television show in the 1960's, "Here Comes The Brides".  This book is loosely based on a second group of women who came in the second group.  This is a work of fiction and the characters within are not based on real people other than Mr. Mercer.  This is a Christian romance with the principal character being a teacher named Amanda.
